STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS ASSESS MA & ASSOCIATE OFFICE IN IBADAN

Yesterday, 22nd January 2024, the Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Structural Engineers, Oyo State Chapter, Engr. Mbim Okutiyang, along with his proficient team, conducted a vital visit to my MA & Associate Office in Ibadan. Their purpose was to conduct a meticulous assessment of the structural impact resulting from the unfortunate explosion on 16th January 2024, which affected several buildings, including my office.

I extend my heartfelt appreciation to Engr. Mbim Okutiyang and his team for their prompt and professional response. Their dedication to evaluating the structural integrity of the building is commendable, providing valuable insights as we navigate the aftermath of the incident.

It is noteworthy that the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) had conducted an extensive post-incident inspection, including my office and others within a 500m radius of the explosion’s epicentre, before the recent assessment by the Nigerian Institution of Structural Engineers, Oyo State Chapter.

These visits resonate with my administration’s UNITE Agenda, underscoring the importance of Total Integration with allied professionals. We are committed to fostering collaboration across disciplines, ensuring a holistic approach to architectural and structural challenges.

Moving forward, we pledge to diligently pursue this agenda, cultivating stronger ties with professionals in allied fields for the greater benefit of our community and the built environment.

I assure our members and the public that every necessary step will be taken to address any structural concerns identified during this assessment. The safety and well-being of our built environment remain paramount.
