Membership of the Nigerian Institute of Architects
Membership of the Nigerian Institute of Architects falls into the following categories.
- Full Members
- Associate Members
- Graduate Members
- Architectural Technologist (HND)
- Student Members
Full Members
Full Members shall be holders of an accredited Masters Degree or equivalent qualification in Architecture obtained from any School of Architecture or institution in the Federation or abroad and who shall satisfy all the conditions for admission to Full Membership of the Institute.
Requirements
Applicants to this class shall satisfy the following conditions:
- O/Levels Certificate or its Equivalent (to include Mathematics, English, Physics plus any other 2 subjects)
- B.Sc. and M.Sc. Certificate from an accredited Higher Institution
- Remedial Examination (where Higher Institution is unaccredited)
- NYSC (Discharge or Exemption)
- Academic Transcripts required for foreign graduates
- Professional Competence Examination Certificate
- Evidence of Change of name; if applicable
- Details of Work Experience
Credentials
Must all be duly signed ‘Original seen by me’ by a current and Financial Council Member.
Referees
2 Financially up-to-date. One with a membership standing of 5 years and the other with 3 years.
Associate Member
Requirements
Applicants to this class shall satisfy the following conditions:
- O/Levels Certificate or its Equivalent (to include Mathematics, English, Physics plus any other 2 subjects)
- B.Sc. and M.Sc. Certificate from an accredited Higher Institution
- Remedial Examination (where Higher Institution is unaccredited)
- NYSC (Discharge or Exemption)
- Academic Transcripts required for foreign graduates
- Evidence of Change of name; if applicable
- Details of Work Experience

Graduate Member

- ND and HND Certificate from an accredited Higher Institution
- NYSC (Discharge or Exemption)
- Academic Transcripts required for foreign graduates
- Evidence of Change of name; if applicable
- Details of Work Experience

Referees
2 Financially up-to-date. One with a membership standing of 5 years and the other with 3 years.
Student Member
Requirements
Applicants to this class shall satisfy the following conditions:
- O/Levels Certificate or its Equivalent (to include Mathematics, English, Physics plus any other 2 subjects)
- Admission letter from Higher Institution (Universities)
- HND Students (Polytechnics)
- Evidence of Change of name; if applicable
Credentials
Must all be duly signed ‘Original seen by me’ by a current and Financial Council Member.
Referees
- The HOD or any Lecturer in the department
- The State Chapter Chair where the Higher Institution is located if applicable
